Tears of Gilgead is a persistent, browser based MMORPG, heavily inspired by classic MUDS.

Despite taking design inspiration for the 80s and 90s it is built on a modern, scalable tech stack, and is architected with ease-of-use in mind. Players unfamiliar with the conventions of MUDs and persistent browser based games will still be able to easily play, since the UX is designed to be as simple and intuitive as possible.

Tears of Gilgead is not a for-profit game. It is the browser MMORPG we have always wanted to play, and as such it will not contain financial blockers for it's players. No subscriptions, no microtransaction, no ads.

Tears of Gilgead hearkens back to a time when MMORPGs were truly social experiences. A lone wolf cannot survive in the world of Gilgead, and systemic quests are rare. To thrive in our world you need to set your own goals, make your own luck, forge real friendships, and explore the land together.

Create or join a guild, become a master artisan, build up townships from nothing in the northern wilderness, hunt dangerous monsters and even more dangerous bandits, participate in long community quests and storylines, or just sip a mug of ale in the Spontoon Inn and enjoy the company of likeminded adventurers. Whatever you are looking for in an MMORPG, Tears of Gilgead has it.

Tears of Gilgead is a long term passion project, and is intermittently developed/hosted. If you wish to join future alpha tests or are interested in helping shape the future of the game, please consider joining our Discord server!
